A small collection of the carvings Christopher has produced, all inspired by nature and his beloved ancient woodland that he spends much of his time in……

Christopher abell “Whittling woodsman”

Christopher taught himself to carve a few years back, more as an occassional relaxing hobby for an hour here and there before dedicating more time to this old art and sharing finished pieces with collectors

My simple range of tools

All of my carvings are created using these few tools, an axe, folding saw, detail knife, carving knife, & hook knife (for spoons etc)

Carving in nature

By only using simple hand tools, one is free to go off and carve peacefully anywhere in nature, without the need of a workshop or electricity

Carving in the old lanes out in the van

Out in the rustic converted camper van I built to allow us freedom to experience a more nomadic life & to spend time together and carve literally anywhere we end up.

All our spare time is spent in the ancient family woodland we’ve been blessed with for over 10 years now, spending time in nature, especially woods for me is a necessity,  it’s a refuge, the last untouched wilderness to escape and be free…..
